We are so happy you have decided to join our Club!!!
Like many of us, you probably had never heard of IWC, so here’s an introduction to help you feel more at home.
Who is IWC?
IWC is first and foremost a social club. Our primary objective is to provide support and friendship to expats living in St Petersburg.
Monthly Get Togethers - the IWC Executive Committee organizes events called General Meetings. All Members are invited to attend these meeting held at a venue in the city for free tea and coffee. Here you can meet members face to face, hear from speakers and any news from our Co-Presidents, Committees and Activities.
Group Activities - IWC hosts many Groups such as activities, languages and sport. You can find more information below under “IWC Groups”. You can also find examples of activities in our Weekly Bulletin emailed to Members each Friday.
More than just events and activities - You will quickly find a close knit community of ladies who care. No question is too stupid; and no problem is too small. We pride our group as like minded people who enjoy each others company. We help and support each other within a safe environment.
Connected to the Community - the IWC is closely connected to other expat groups; Consulates; local and international schools; sporting associations; restaurants; and much more. Membership to our Club gives you access to all these connections.
Any questions or feedback or suggestions are always welcome. You can contact us at any time on our email iwcstpete@gmail.com. This account is closely monitored by Members of our Executive Committee.
What about the Charity side of IWC?
We also contribute to the community by raising funds for various St Petersburg based charity organizations.
The Charity Committee meet monthly to discuss and approve requests from our supported Charities. You can find a list of our Charities and approved requests on our Charity Committee in our Members Only webpage (see below).
Winter Bazaar - Our most important fundraising event happens every November when we hold a Winter Bazaar by coordinating: international and local charity stalls selling traditional food and products; the Grand Raffle; the Lucky draw; the Children’s Play Room; and enough entertainment to spend a lovely afternoon!
The money raised from the Winter Bazaar is given to our Charity Committee who distribute these funds to our supported Charities throughout the year. [Unfortunately due to covid the IWC could not hold this event in 2020 and is also unlikely in 2021.]Craft Group - the IWC CRAFT Group meet twice monthly. They are always busy creating fabulous trinkets which are available to our Members at General Meetings for a donation cost. Their products also make it to the Winter Bazaar, as well as School Fairs. Do you have a school who might be interested in the Craft Group joining the school Fair? Contact us on iwcstpete@gmail.com so we can connect you to the Craft Group. All proceeds raised by the Craft Group are passed onto our Charity Committee throughout the year.
Membership Fees - 10% of your Membership Fee is donated to our Charity Committee. This is just an extra little ‘feel good’ part of joining the IWC!
If you’re interested in joining our Charity or Winter Bazaar Committee, contact us at iwcstpete@gmail.com and our Committee Chairs will respond.
