each week for Ballet Class
Taught by the renowned Mayumi Sakamoto, Assistant Artistic Director of Ballet at Saint-Petersburg Mikhailovsky Theater. Mayumi speaks English, Spanish, Japanese and Russian.
With over 30 years experience, Mayumi’s class offers a unique opportunity to immerse your child into the true essence of St Petersburg, the ballet capital of the world.
These classes are open to all nationalities. They allow your child to practice English and meet children from all over the world within a very friendly, safe and secure environment.

Who: suitable for Boys and Girls aged 4 years and up.
Cost: 850 rubs per class - Students are required to sign up for half a semester (6 weeks)

ABOUT THE TEACHER: MAYUMI SAKAMOTO, ballet teacher and researcher in Art History. From 1988-1992 studied to become a ballet teacher at the choreographic department at the Leningrad Institute of Culture. From 1992 - 2011 worked as a ballet dancer at the State Academic Theatre Opera and Ballet Mussorgsky. From 2011-2013 studied and graduated in Master’s degree on choreographic art- ballet teacher from Vaganova Ballet Academy in Saint Petersburg. In 2018 postgraduate from study of Art (Theory and history of art) at the Vaganova Ballet Academy. Among her teachers were: Pyotr Silkin, Vadim Sirotin, Natalya Yananis, Margarita Alfimova, and Irina Trofimova. She has been working for the Mikhailovsky Theatre (previously known as Mussorgsky Theater) for about 20 years as a ballet dancer and she has been part at the corps de ballet in the all classic repertoire. From 2011 to present, she is the coordinator for ballets by Nacho Duato in the director's management of the Mikhailovsky Theatre. She works as a ballet and character teacher. She is preparing a PhD thesis at the Vaganova Academy on “Formation and development Ballet art in Cuba: historical and pedagogical aspect". She has published in the Bulletin of Vaganova Ballet Academy four articles about the Cuban Ballet.
